MR MOJO RISIN
Just when you forget how amazing Jim Morrison was, in all of his insanity, a documentary like this comes around and hits you on the head and reminds you.
Narrated by the cool, calm, and collected Johnny Depp (swoon), this documentary delves not so much into the past of any members of the band on their own, but addresses events from the group's formations to their ending after the unfortunate death of Morrison. The documentary is very Morrison-centric, though. How could it not be?
Their story is told through colorful footage of their (mostly) failed concerts and seemingly endless recording sessions. I never claimed to be a Doors scholar, but I thought I knew a thing or two. This documentary did a good job of challenging what I thought I knew and reinforcing me just enough to feel good about my rock 'n roll knowledge.
Also, I never knew that MR MOJO RISIN are all of the letters in the name JIM MORRISON. Am I just totally late on that one?

Made-up Holidays
My friend recently participated in a contest in which she had to make up a fake holiday to be entered to win. The contest is not the point of this post.
She created National Take Pictures of Your Cat Day.
I just wanted to show the internet how it's almost not even funny how many pictures of my cat I have. I shall display some of them now.

I'm not done yet...
This is only a portion of the pix I've taken of my cat in less than 6 months.
Every day is National Take Pictures Of Your Cat Day in my heart.
Question for the world: is this post the beginning of the end of my blogging career (that has only lasted for 4 posts so far)?

My love for Beyonce is like a thousand suns.
So, if you know me, you know that I have this weird obsession with meeting and becoming friends with Beyonce and Jay-Z. I just wanna get a slice of pizza with them, show Jay-Z how I know every word to 99 Problems (and he would be impressed), and hold little Blue Ivy.
I'm one step closer to my dream this summer. Tickets for Beyonce go on sale next month. It's at a casino, and guaranteed to be super expensive, but nothing stands between me and my dreams of sharing fast food with Bey & Jay.
See...this is how well we would get along:
It's meant to be.

10 reasons why Seattle is a great city
I just got back from an amazing trip to Seattle to visit my aunt. It was my first time there, and my first time in almost 9-10 years on the west coast. I LOVED it. I thought I'd share my reasons why I loved Seattle so much!
1. Nature - Seattle is a big city with all of the amenities that a metropolis has to offer. But Seattle will raise you one - it has the most breathtaking natural sights! Lots of water, surrounded by beautiful mountains - what's not to fall in love with?
View of mountains from the Space Needle.
2. Breakfast Happy Hour - Toulouse Petit have most of their breakfast entrees for only $8 dollars every weekday from 8am-11am. Enjoy with a mint julep or a spicy Bloody Mary.

3. Cool history - It seems like there's a cool story behind everything in Seattle. Luna Park Cafe used to be set near the Luna Park Amusement Park. More recently, the John T. Williams Memorial Totem Pole was erected so the city could remember the life of a man who was wrongly killed by law enforcement. Everything in Seattle is there for a reason.

4. THE MUSIC - Need we say more? Nirvana, EMP, Jimi Hendrix, Sub-Pop.

5. Cool architecture - Check out this photo I found on Google of their public library (I wish I had snapped one for myself).
From this website.
6. Pike Place Market - Watch some people throw fish, grab pork bun, or buy some cheesy souvenirs or local art. Truly one of the greatest city markets I've ever had the chance to go to (it's ok, Reading Terminal - I still love you).

7. The shopping is unreal - There's a place called the Fremont Vintage Mall. And it has stacks upon stacks of the most amazing vintage stuff you're gonna find anywhere. I don't just mean clothes. I mean knick knacks, furniture, records, kitchenware, posters, telephones, jewelry, sunglasses, music instruments and on and on and on. They also have John & Yoko painted on the entrance to the store.

8. Public art - Seattle kicks Philadelphia's butt in the public art arena. From the fins and the Sound Garden to the Fremont troll, Seattle has us beat, for sure.

9. Less people are murdered - In the entire year of 2011, there were 21 murders in Seattle. Philadelphia had 324. THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR MURDERS. Let's figure out what Seattle is doing and then do that.
10. Environmentally friendly - Seattle composts. I don't just mean it's a fad that people do on their own. The city actually collects it and turns it into usable products for gardening. And they're banning plastic bags effective this summer.

The use of Twitter by people trying to ruin all television shows for me
Is it fair that I should have to abstain from the internet for a night just because someone doesn't want to keep television spoilers to themselves? No, seriously...what is fair in a world where technology is in real time and we live our lives in conjunction with things like Twitter? Do we no longer have to think "Even though I have the time to sit down and watch it and tweet about it at the same time, maybe not everyone has seen it yet," because someone should just know not to be on Twitter while the show is on?
Also, I'm still trying to figure out if Klout score matters and if so, to whom. I have a pretty good score (58) and I can get a good discount at Gilt Groupe (check this out). So I guess I want to know if it's important for more than discounts on already discounted designer clothes.

breakfast on sunday
Sunday mornings are my favorite kind of mornings. Breakfast is one of the best things ever created. Together, it's an unstoppable pair. Check it out - I made an apple cheddar tartine and you can check out the recipe here, so you can make it yourself.
I learned while making this recipe that I don't have the proper apple slicing skills neccesary, and almost cut my fingers more than once (except my knife was way too dull to do much damage, so we can thank god for that).
It's laundry day, which means I will no doubt dedicate hours of precious time to doing my laundry out in the suburbs at my mother's house, but it's ok because I'll see my baby brother. He's still so little, but he's built like a linebacker. An adorable linebacker.
Afterward, I think I may go to this:
Info here in case you're interested in going to. I <3 records.
